Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (KP2MI) is collaborating with the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry (ESDM), the Industrial Ministry, and the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to accelerate vocational training for migrant workers.

"As a follow-up to the President's directive to accelerate vocational development, today we are signing an MoU with ministries that have vocational and migrant worker empowerment institutions," said P2MI Minister Mukhtarudin at the MoU signing at the KP2MI office, here on Wednesday.

Mukhtarudin said that currently, there are 12 ministries and institutions ready to be involved in providing vocational training, including the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Industry, and the Ministry of MSMEs.

In total, there are 37,049 vocational institutions under ministries and other institutions or job training centers (BLK), with 17,592 of them being vocational institutions originating from the 12 ministries.

Of the 12 ministries, 10 have prepared data on migrant worker preparation institutions that have conducted linking and matching to meet the needs of the overseas labor market.

With a total of vocational institutions spread across 38 provinces with a total capacity of 8,256,400 people, Mukhtarudin hopes that these vocational institutions can prepare 28,141 prospective Indonesian migrant workers who are ready to work abroad.

During the training, 12 sectors were involved to expand the potential for migrant worker placement abroad.

These sectors include tourism, transportation, arts and creative economy, health, manufacturing, mining, business and management, fisheries, livestock, agriculture, construction, and the information and communication technology sector.

In signing the MoU with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of P2MI Mukhtarudin agreed to develop human resources to improve competency through vocational training in the energy and mineral resources sector.

With the Ministry of Industry, one of the agreements reached with the ministry was to map the needs of migrant workers according to overseas job opportunities in the manufacturing sector and the potential availability of industrial vocational education graduates.

Meanwhile, with the Ministry of MSMEs, the agreed cooperation plan includes providing training in the micro, small, and medium enterprise sector, expanding and improving marketing access for MSMEs, and utilizing facilities and infrastructure to develop MSMEs.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia and his staff, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita and his staff, and Minister of MSMEs Maman Abdurrahman and his staff.
