Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Agriculture and the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN) bolstered collaboration in cybersecurity to ensure Indonesia's digital agriculture systems are running securely and efficiently amid technological transformation.

This initiative was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two parties at the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture in Jakarta on Thursday.

After the MoU signing event, Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman noted that the collaboration reflects the strong commitment of the Agriculture Ministry and BSSN and is a key milestone in strengthening the security of national agriculture data and digital systems.

He also noted that the cooperation is part of a big vision towards food self-sufficiency as mandated by President Prabowo Subianto.

The minister stressed that food is a crucial sector that must be protected from all forms of threats, including cyber threats.

To this end, protecting digital agriculture systems is deemed necessary to ensure the work processes, data, and communication within the Agriculture Ministry remain secure and optimal.

Under the collaboration, the ministry and BSSN will enhance electronic information and transaction protection, technology and communication security, human resources development, and capacity building for cybersecurity and encryption.

The cooperation also includes cybersecurity literacy improvement, developing a comprehensive digital agricultural security system, and developing a communication system that can help the ministry connect with farmers across the country.

According to Sulaiman, agricultural cyber resilience is a key part of national stability, saying that the country will not survive without food.

He also stated that Indonesia currently not only tries to meet its own needs, but also to send food to countries in need, such as Palestine.

"This collaboration is a concrete step towards a strong, resilient, secure, and sovereign food system," he remarked.

On the same occasion, BSSN Head Nugroho Sulistyo emphasized the importance of synergy of various agencies in building reliable and adaptive cyber resilience, adding that his agency is committed to supporting the Agriculture Ministry in carrying out its tasks with secure and reliable electronic systems.
