Jakarta (ANTARA) - Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said that President Prabowo Subianto has shown strong dedication to defending the interests of the Indonesian people during his first year in office.

He noted that Prabowo has devoted much of his time to improving public welfare through strategic government programs, particularly in healthcare and food security.

Sjamsoeddin added that the president rarely takes a day off, as he remains focused on serving the people.

"The president constantly thinks about how to ensure national food self-sufficiency," he said.

According to Sjamsoeddin, this spirit of dedication has inspired ministers and motivated all members of the Red and White Cabinet to work diligently in implementing government programs.

He expressed confidence that President Prabowo and his cabinet have delivered their best performance throughout the administration’s first year.

Prabowo was inaugurated as president on October 20, 2024, marking one year of his leadership this October.

Indonesia’s economic growth remained stable at 5.12 percent, with low inflation at 2.65 percent and a controlled state budget deficit of 1.56 percent of GDP.

The country’s trade balance has maintained a surplus for 64 consecutive months, while the unemployment rate fell to 4.76 percent and the poverty rate reached a record low of 8.47 percent. The Jakarta Composite Index also hit an all-time high of 8,257.86.

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa emphasized that these results reflect Indonesia’s strong economic fundamentals and market confidence in the government’s policy direction.
