“Last year, we imported 4.52 million tons of rice. This year — zero. Our rice production has grown by 12.4 percent and is projected to reach 34 million tons,” Hasan said during the ministry’s town hall meeting here on Tuesday.
With a production surplus of 4 million tons, no rice imports will be needed until December 2025, he added, affirming that Indonesia achieved rice self-sufficiency “in a very short time” under Prabowo’s presidency. The minister also noted that the Farmers’ Exchange Rate (NTP) reached 124.36 in September 2025 — the highest in the past five years.
Farmers’ welfare has improved, driven by higher output and increasing prices of dry harvested grain (GKP), which rose from Rp6,000 to Rp6,500 per kilogram.
“The grain price never falls below Rp6,500 — it always stays above. This means farmers are earning more. With a 13 percent production increase and a 4 million ton surplus, the gains are going directly to them,” Hasan stated.
He attributed this achievement to strong coordination among ministries and agencies working toward food sovereignty, highlighting the national food team’s swift efforts in stabilizing production, distribution, and prices.
Hasan affirmed his ministry’s commitment to orchestrating food policies to ensure every agency works in unison and delivers direct benefits to farmers and the public.
He said that in its first year, the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs coordinated the issuance of 7 Presidential Instructions, 6 Presidential Regulations, 3 Presidential Decrees, and 2 Government Regulations focused on food and energy security, price stabilization, waste-to-energy development, and strengthening farmers’ livelihoods.
