"The decision aims to maintain interregional connectivity and ensure smooth public mobility with more affordable fares. We want everyone to enjoy air transportation services, especially during the Christmas and New Year holiday," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
The program aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to strengthen the momentum of national economic growth in the second half of 2025, focusing on boosting household consumption and purchasing power.
Purwagandhi said the reduced ticket prices apply to domestic economy class flights for the travel period from December 22 to January 10, 2026. The tickets can be purchased between October 22, 2025, and January 10, 2026.
The fare reduction is regulated under the Minister of Transportation Decree Number KM 50 of 2025 concerning the Reduction of Fuel Surcharges for Domestic Economy Class Passenger Fares during the 2025 Christmas and New Year Holidays.
It is also supported by the Minister of Finance Regulation Number 71 of 2025 on Value Added Tax for Commercial Air Transportation Services during the same period.
Additionally, the Director General of Civil Aviation issued Decree Number KP-DJPU 235 of 2025 on the Implementation of a 50 Percent Non-Tax State Revenue Tariff for Airport Services at Airport Operational Units within the Directorate General of Civil Aviation during the holiday season.
According to the minister, the reduction was made possible through adjustments in several cost components, including a six percent government-borne value added tax, a two percent jet fuel surcharge, and a 20 percent propeller fuel surcharge.
Furthermore, passenger service charges, landing, positioning, and storage fees are also reduced by 50 percent. Moreover, aviation fuel prices have been lowered at 37 airports, alongside the extension of operating hours and additional flight services.
“I appreciate all parties involved in making this reduction possible, including related ministries and agencies, airlines, fuel suppliers, and airport operators. Hopefully, this effort will provide direct benefits to the public,” Purwagandhi stated.
He emphasized that during the holiday period, the government remains committed to maintaining high standards of service quality and flight safety.
