Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo confirmed that next year's budget cuts will not affect the health and education sectors.

“Budget efficiency in the regional budget will only apply to physical projects considered non-urgent,” he said on Thursday.

He explained that services at community health centers will not be reduced, although the budget for their physical construction will be trimmed.

The governor added that his office is currently preparing to develop and revitalize several health facilities in the capital.

Two new community health centers will be built, while several others will be renovated with more modern facilities, he continued.

The same principle applies to the education sector, where the provincial government will maintain the quality of public services to ensure that the regional budget directly benefits residents.

“Only physical development will be reduced,” Pramono emphasized.

To balance budget efficiency, he said his administration is preparing a creative financing strategy by partnering with the private sector, regionally-owned enterprises (BUMD), and state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to support infrastructure development.

Earlier, Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno said that his administration would postpone several non-priority development projects due to reduced revenue-sharing funds (DBH) from the central government.

However, he assured that clean water and mass transportation projects, such as the MRT, will remain top priorities, while other non-urgent development projects will be postponed.

Previously, the Jakarta Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) Budget Agency and the Government Budget Team (TAPD) agreed to adjust the regional budget to Rp81.2 trillion (US$4.7 billion).

The DPRD and the Jakarta Provincial Government had earlier signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the 2026 regional budget amounting to Rp95.3 trillion (US$5.5 billion) on August 13, 2025.

However, following the issuance of the Finance Ministry Regulation (PMK) concerning DBH reductions, the Budget Agency and the Jakarta TAPD agreed to revise the 2026 Jakarta regional budget to Rp81.2 trillion.
