Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto proposed making Desa Bersinar a national program to strengthen regional initiatives.

He conveyed the proposal to Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian during an audience in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Desa Bersinar refers to a village or sub-district that meets specific criteria, including the comprehensive implementation of the Prevention and Eradication of Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (P4GN) program.

"We appreciate and express our gratitude to the Ministry of Home Affairs for its commitment to supporting the Prevention and Eradication of Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking of Narcotics and Narcotic Precursors (P4GN and PN)," Seto said when confirmed in Jakarta on Saturday.

Seto highlighted that one of the Ministry’s key contributions was the issuance of Minister of Home Affairs Regulation (Permendagri) No. 12 of 2019 and Circular Letter No. 900.1.1/5282/SJ dated September 26, 2025, concerning Regional Government Support for Strengthening the P4GN and PN Program.

He also presented several strategic proposals to enhance the program’s implementation at the regional level.

These include expanding BNN’s reach, integrating drug prevention and control into regional development planning, strengthening cross-sectoral coordination, formulating planning and budgeting guidelines, and implementing the National Urine Test Movement (Gerakan Tes Urine Nasional).

In response, Minister Karnavian expressed full support for the implementation of BNN’s programs.

He stated that the ministry would follow up by ensuring drug-related issues are incorporated into regional development planning documents, such as the Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD), the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD), and the Regional Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPD), through coordination with local governments.

The meeting was aimed at strengthening synergy between the two institutions in addressing narcotics issues in Indonesia.

It is expected that this collaboration will result in concrete and coordinated actions between the central and regional governments to accelerate efforts toward realizing an Indonesia free from narcotics (Indonesia Bersih Narkoba).
