Jakarta (ANTARA) - South Korean President Lee Jae-myung commended Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto for achieving a public satisfaction rate of about 80 percent during his first year in office, calling it an exceptional accomplishment.

During a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Gyeongju, South Korea, on Saturday, Lee said the figure reflected strong public trust in Prabowo’s leadership and the effectiveness of his administration’s policies for stability and national growth.

“You have been working very well that public satisfaction crosses 80 percent, which is an exceptional number. I would like to congratulate you on this,” Lee told Prabowo.

Lee expressed optimism about expanding cooperation between the two countries, noting that South Korea and Indonesia already collaborate in multiple sectors, including trade, investment, defense, and security.

“I hope this partnership will continue to grow,” he said.

Prabowo thanked Lee for the recognition and reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding partnership with South Korea.

“Our countries have long enjoyed strong relations, and South Korea remains a key partner for us in economic cooperation. Both governments also maintain excellent collaboration in defense,” Prabowo said.

Both leaders agreed to advance cooperation on the joint development of the KF-21 Boramae fighter jet, viewing it as a vital step in strengthening defense ties.

“I believe we will continue to discuss follow-up steps for the KF-21 project. The negotiations are ongoing and depend on economic factors, pricing, and financing schemes,” Prabowo said.

Accompanying President Prabowo at the meeting were Foreign Minister Sugiono, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
