This was conveyed by the ministry's Director General of Public Communication and Media Fifi Aleyda Yahya at the "She Connects: Women, Inspiration, and Digital Innovation" event in Yogyakarta on Thursday.
In her remarks, Yahya underlined that the digital world should not be viewed as complicated, as it opens many opportunities for women to create and contribute.
"This digital world is increasingly opening its doors for women to learn, socialize, network, create, and initiate change. We are not just users, but also creators of opportunity," she remarked.
She furthermore highlighted the role of women in maintaining a healthy digital ecosystem within both families and society.
According to her, women have an essential role in combating the spread of hoaxes and hate speech on social media.
"If someone shares unclear news in a family group, we can be the reminder. Women can be the guardians of safe digital spaces," she said.
The director general cited data from the Association of Indonesian Internet Service Providers (APJII) showing that internet users in Indonesia have reached over 229 million people, with women making up 49.1 percent of the total number.
This figure, she continued, represents significant potential for women to strengthen their businesses, mobilize communities, and present creative solutions in their surroundings.
Through the She Connects program, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs is seeking to expand inclusive digital talent training and ensure no woman is left behind in digital transformation.
On that occasion, Yahya also invited all the participants to collaborate in realizing inclusive digital space that is safe for everyone.
