Met after his inauguration ceremony here on Tuesday, Satria highlighted opportunities for synergy between BRIN, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, and sovereign wealth fund Danantara to enhance research capabilities in the country.
“We will soon coordinate how BRIN, the Higher-ed Ministry, and Danantara can work together. These three institutions must be strong because Danantara is one of Indonesia’s development agents, trusted by the President to strengthen our economic structure,” he said.
Satria emphasized the importance of generating real economic impact from research, citing Danantara’s model as a benchmark.
He added that in the coming weeks, he would conduct a review of BRIN’s achievements and evaluations to map out existing challenges and potential solutions.
He also highlighted the potential of international research funding as an alternative to support Indonesia’s growing research needs.
“I believe there are plenty of international funds that we can explore as alternative research funding sources because research inevitably requires substantial funding,” he said.
He added that the situation is similar in any country. “If we want to strengthen our research, funding inevitably becomes a very important factor,” he said.
Satria was inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto at the State Palace on Monday (November 10), replacing Laksana Tri Handoko.
At the time of his appointment, he was still serving as IPB University Rector. His appointment was formalized under Presidential Decree No. 123/P/2025 on the Dismissal and Appointment of the Head and Deputy Head of BRIN.
