Pramono did not specify the decline percentage of the rate, but noted that trade, accommodation, food and beverage, as well as transportation sectors have become the largest absorbers of labor in the city.
"Positive growth in those sectors underscores Jakarta's role as a service-oriented city and a regional trade hub," he said in Jakarta on Friday.
According to the Governor, the decline on open unemployment rate was also supported by the series of job fairs regularly held in Jakarta. The Jakarta Provincial Government has even organized a dedicated job fair for persons with disabilities.
"Yesterday we were able to recruit up to 150 workers with disabilities. One of them, Zidan, who went viral, is now working at Transjakarta," he said.
Pramono stressed that he together with Deputy Governor Rano Karno are committed to holding job fairs across various locations in Jakarta to maximize labor absorption.
In addition, the provincial government will also provide capacity building programs for persons with disabilities. "We will periodically ensure that persons with disabilities have equal opportunities to work in Jakarta's employment ecosystem," he said.
Earlier, the Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Office (Disnakertransgi) recorded that job fairs held from February until November this year have absorbed around 2,399 prospective workers.
Head of Disnakertransgi, Syaripudin, stated a total of 20 job fairs have been held at the city level, including special job fairs, campus-based fairs, and disability-focused fairs.
"From all these events, we involved 700 companies and facilitated the placement of 2,399 (prospective) workers," he said.
Apart from that, some 13 disability-focused job fairs organized by the provincial government have placed 150 job seekers in various companies.
It has also been active in facilitating job seekers who aim to work abroad, including through internship programs and the placement of graduates from the city’s Regional Job Training Centers (PPKD).
