Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said on Tuesday it respects President Prabowo Subianto’s decision to grant rehabilitation to three defendants in a corruption case involving state-owned ferry operator PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry.

KPK Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu said the commission is still waiting for the presidential decree before determining its next legal steps.

The three rehabilitated defendants are Ira Puspadewi, ASDP president director from 2017–2024; Muhammad Yusuf Hadi, commercial and services director from 2019–2024; and Harry Muhammad Adhi Caksono, planning and development director from 2020–2024.

KPK has also named Adjie, owner of PT Jembatan Nusantara, as a suspect in the same case involving ASDP’s acquisition of PT JN.

The commission earlier submitted case files for the three ASDP executives to state prosecutors for trial.

On November 6, 2025, Puspadewi denied accusations that she caused state losses, arguing the acquisition benefited the government by securing 53 vessels with operating permits.

On November 20, 2025, the court sentenced Puspadewi to four years and six months in prison, while Hadi and Caksono each received four-year terms.

Judges ruled that the three defendants caused state losses of Rp1.25 trillion (US$72 million) through the acquisition.

However, Chief Judge Sunoto issued a dissenting opinion, saying he believed the defendants’ actions did not constitute corruption.

On Tuesday, Deputy House Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya confirmed the president had signed the rehabilitation letter.

“Based on communications with the government, the president has today signed the rehabilitation letter for the three names,” Ahmad said.

Officials did not immediately clarify whether the rehabilitation would affect the defendants’ convictions, sentences or ongoing legal processes.

Rehabilitation in Indonesia legally restores a person’s status and rights following criminal proceedings, although it does not automatically annul court verdicts.

KPK officials said they would study the presidential decree carefully once received, stressing that the commission’s legal mandate remains unchanged.

The government has not commented on whether similar rehabilitation decisions may be considered in other high-profile corruption cases.
