The head of the Air Force Information Service, Air Commodore I Nyoman Suadnyana, on Saturday informed that the helicopter, manned by Captain Anterio and Second Lieutenant Kevin, transported 2,200 kilograms of supplies in two sorties to several affected areas.
The aid sent included necessities such as drinking water, sardines, sugar, instant noodles, cooking oil, and special supplies such as diapers and sanitary napkins.
"The drop-offs took place at FL Tobing Airport in Sibolga and Matauli Field in Sibolga," Suadnyana detailed.
In addition, the Air Force has readied three Caracal helicopters on standby at Roesmin Nurjadin Air Force Base in Pekanbaru, Riau, to expedite aid distribution to areas inaccessible by aircraft.
He emphasized that the Air Force's helicopters will continue to operate to distribute aid to disaster-affected communities in remote areas.
"Our priority is to ensure aid reaches those in need as quickly as possible," Suadnyana said.
On Friday, North Sumatra Governor Bobby Afif Nasution declared a 14-day emergency response status following floods, landslides, and earthquakes in the North Sumatra region.
This status is outlined in the Decree of the Governor of North Sumatra Number 188.44/836/KPTS/2025 concerning the Determination of Disaster Emergency Response Status for 14 days, from November 27 to December 10, 2025.
"Most areas in North Sumatra experienced flooding and landslides," the Head of the North Sumatra Provincial Communications and Informatics Office, Erwin Hotmansah Harahap, remarked.
According to Harahap, the decree instructed relevant regional agencies/apparatus to immediately take the necessary steps to address floods, landslides, and earthquakes.
Preliminary data from the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) on Friday evening informed that a total of 116 people had died and 42 people were missing in North Sumatra due to the disaster.
The victims were spread across several regions, including North Tapanuli (11), Central Tapanuli (51), South Tapanuli (32), Sibolga City (17), Humbang Hasundutan (6), Padang Sidempuan City (1), and Pakpak Bharat (2). No fatalities were reported in Mandailing Natal.
