Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta police have deployed over 2,000 personnel to maintain security during the visit of Wang Huning, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

As head of China's political advisory body, Wang is among the country's highest-ranking officials, alongside President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and National People's Congress Standing Committee Chairman Zhao Leji.

Jakarta police spokesperson Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto said on Wednesday that security measures would be carried out in an integrated manner to ensure the smooth execution of the diplomatic agenda scheduled for December 3–4.

"The Jakarta police are committed to providing the finest services to state guests. Working with the military and other stakeholders, we are deploying over two thousand personnel to guarantee the delegation’s safety," he said.

He said the Chinese delegation will consist of 74 people, including core delegates, staff, media security personnel, and aircraft crew members.

"Our objective is to secure all key venues, including Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Shangri-La Hotel, the Parliament Complex, the GBK urban forest, and the Merdeka Palace," he said.

To support security operations, police have also prepared traffic management measures to ease potential congestion during the delegation’s movements.

"We have taken anticipatory steps, sterilized activity locations, and intensified patrols. We are also enhancing law enforcement readiness to anticipate any security threats," Hermanto said.

He urged residents to help maintain order and report potential disruptions to the police call center at 110. He also apologized for possible inconvenience during the visit.

He expressed hope that the measures will reinforce Indonesia's image as a safe and welcoming country committed to strengthening ties with China.

In April, Wang Huning met Eddy Soeparno, Deputy Speaker of Indonesia's People's Consultative Assembly, in Beijing.
