Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto returned Friday to flood-stricken communities in Aceh Tamiang, fulfilling a promise to revisit survivors of the devastating flash floods.

“Thank you for welcoming me. I am here today as I promised,” Prabowo said in remarks streamed by the Presidential Secretariat.

Prabowo said the government has been working to accelerate disaster response efforts across Aceh.

During his first post-disaster visit, he found road access to Tamiang cut off. He said the area is now reachable, allowing aid to flow more smoothly.

“I inspected the situation. God willing, we will rebuild this together,” he said.

Prabowo vowed ongoing government support throughout the recovery process and apologized to residents in areas where aid has not yet arrived.

“The government will continue helping everyone. I apologize if some have not received full assistance. We are working hard,” he said.

The president was accompanied by National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Armed Forces Commander Gen. Agus Subiyanto and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

After state visits to Pakistan and Russia, Prabowo and his delegation traveled to Medan, North Sumatra, to continue overseeing disaster response.

In Medan, he is scheduled to inspect flood and landslide-hit zones and lead a coordination meeting on recovery efforts across Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.

His aircraft landed at Kualanamu International Airport around 2 a.m., with Teddy Indra Wijaya accompanying him on the flight from Moscow.

Prabowo visited the evacuation post at the Tamiang River Bridge before continuing to Central Aceh.

He is set to visit the Takengon evacuation center and later the shelter at SMP 2 Wih Pesam in Bener Meriah, Aceh.
