Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto visited Koja Regional General Hospital in North Jakarta on Tuesday to meet two students and a teacher injured after a Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program delivery car crashed into their school.

Dressed in a khaki safari shirt, Prabowo arrived at the hospital at around 12:20 p.m. local time, accompanied by National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Head Dadan Hindayana and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

The head of state was welcomed by health workers and hospital staff upon his arrival, as shown in a video obtained by ANTARA.

"He (Prabowo) seeks to assess the condition of the three victims still undergoing treatment and to communicate with them,” Hindayana told the media in a written message.

He said the visit reflects the president’s care and empathy for the three individuals, who were promptly taken to the hospital after being struck by the MBG vehicle during a yard gathering at Kalibaru 01 Public Elementary School in North Jakarta on Thursday (December 11).

"Mr. President asked them their names, conditions, and favorite food," Hindayana added.

The BGN chief added that President Prabowo used the visit to express his appreciation to Maryono, the injured teacher, for his dedication and to encourage the two students to study diligently.

Additionally, he said the head of state also praised the hospital for properly treating the incident victims.

At a plenary cabinet meeting at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday (December 15), Hindayana informed the president that the MBG school crash injured 22 people, with 10 students discharged after six hours of observation.

Meanwhile, eight pupils and one teacher required treatment at Koja Hospital, with three others at Cilincing Hospital.

Shortly after the incident, the BGN announced strict measures to prevent similar cases, including raising standards for MBG vehicles and drivers and barring delivery vehicles from entering school grounds, requiring them to stop just outside the gate.

The agency has also pledged full support for those injured in the crash.

Meanwhile, North Jakarta Police have named AI (34) as a suspect, confirming the individual was a substitute driver operating the vehicle while heavily fatigued.
