He specifically thanked Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman, who also chairs the Bapanas, while monitoring the arrival of disaster relief delivered by sea on Thursday (December 18), according to a statement cited in Jakarta on Friday.
The government emphasized that the large volume of aid is urgently needed by Aceh residents who are currently struggling with emergencies following widespread floods and landslides in late November.
"May God reward the minister for his efforts," Manaf said.
He also expressed his gratitude to all workers involved in delivering the disaster relief, including the crew of the military vessel KRI Surabaya 591, which sailed from Jakarta to distribute aid to affected regions.
The ship was assigned to deliver essential goods and equipment under the third phase of the Agriculture Ministry-Bapanas disaster relief initiative not only to Aceh regions but also to Medan in North Sumatra and Padang in West Sumatra.
During the deployment of aid at the Military Sea Transport Command (Kolinlamil) Headquarters in Jakarta, Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman noted that the shipment was a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto's instruction for concerted efforts to expedite disaster response in Sumatra.
"All relevant ministries and state agencies have been ordered to deliver aid items to Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra in collaboration with the navy (TNI AL)," he stated.
The minister explained that in the third shipment, his institutions were dispatching 70 truckloads of mattresses, cooking oil, ready-to-eat meals, sanitary equipment, water purifiers, power generators, and other urgently needed items.
He assured that the aid had been tailored to the requests of the governments of disaster-affected regions.
