Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto awarded honors to key figures in agriculture during the National Harvest Festival and rice self-sufficiency announcement in Karawang, West Java, on Wednesday.

The ceremony, attended online by the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta, recognized contributions to strengthening Indonesia’s national food security and agricultural independence.

Awards were issued under Presidential Decrees No. 1 and 2 TK of 2026, granting the Bintang Jasa and Satyalencana Wirakarya honors, signed in Jakarta on January 7.

Prabowo presented the Bintang Jasa Utama to Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman for his leadership in boosting production and driving agricultural reforms nationwide.

The Bintang Jasa Pratama went to Heri Sunarto, a farmer from Ngudi Luhur Cooperative in Sukoharjo, symbolizing farmers’ dedication to maintaining food productivity at the grassroots level.

Bintang Jasa Nararya awards were given to Bobby Irfan Effendi, an agricultural extension officer in OKU Timur, and Winarto of Sri Sedhono farmer group, Ngawi, for mentoring farmers and strengthening local agricultural institutions.

Satyalencana Wira Karya honors were also conferred to cross-sector contributors to agriculture, including Lt. Gen. Mohammad Naudi Nurdika, Bojonegoro District Head Setyo Wahono, Karawang District Head Aep Syaepuloh, and senior police and military officials.

Additional recipients included Don Muzakir, chairman of Tani Merdeka Indonesia; Mugi Raharjo, Bojonegoro agricultural extension officer; Aseng of Poktan Ciraden, Cianjur; and Nurul Hadi of Poktan Sri Ki Lamaran, Indramayu.

At a Cabinet Retreat in Hambalang, Bogor, on Tuesday, Prabowo said national rice reserves managed by state logistics agency Bulog reached over 3 million tons, the highest in Indonesia’s history, surpassing the record under President Soeharto.

Prabowo called the milestone the result of coordinated government efforts and a foundation for accelerating food self-sufficiency, which he said could be achieved within four years — or even in the first year of his administration.

Amid global geopolitical tensions, the president stressed that food independence is vital for national sovereignty and aims to achieve self-sufficiency not only in rice but also in other carbohydrates and protein sources.
