He said the approach has been key to strengthening Indonesia’s economic resilience amid ongoing global uncertainty.
“Our policies have been and will always be well calibrated,” Prabowo said while delivering his special address at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday.
The president explained that national stability, which supports effective economic policymaking, has been achieved through Indonesia’s consistent choice of unity, collaboration and friendship over fragmentation and confrontation.
“History teaches us that peace and stability are our most valuable assets. Peace and stability are the ultimate prerequisites for growth and prosperity. There will be no prosperity without peace,” he said.
In his speech, Prabowo also underscored the importance of maintaining Indonesia’s credibility in economic and fiscal management.
He noted that Indonesia has never defaulted on its debt obligations throughout its history, adding that successive administrations have consistently honoured commitments made by their predecessors.
“Our credibility, hard-earned over many years, has been preserved. Credibility, once lost, is very expensive to regain,” he said.
Prabowo stressed that policy discipline and continuity in economic governance are essential for sustaining long-term growth and maintaining global confidence.
The World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 is being held from January 19 to 23 under the theme “A Spirit of Dialogue,” bringing together world leaders, economists, academics and practitioners to discuss global economic challenges.
