Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has pledged to fulfill the financial entitlements owed to the families of its three employees who were killed in the ATR 42-500 plane crash in South Sulawesi.

Speaking in Jakarta on Sunday, Deputy Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Didit Herdiawan assured grieving families that they will receive benefits from the KKP and other institutions, including PT Taspen, the state-owned enterprise responsible for managing government employees’ old-age savings and pension funds.

The ATR 42-500 aircraft, registered as PK-THT, crashed into the Bulusaraung Mountains in Pangkajene Islands District while en route from Yogyakarta to Makassar on January 17. All 10 people aboard, comprising seven crew members and three KKP employees, were pronounced dead.

The three KKP employees who died in the crash were Ferry Irawan, a patrol vessel analyst who had served at the ministry for 18 years; aerial photo operator Yoga Naufal; and state asset management official Deden Maulana.

Herdiawan emphasized that the Indonesian government would fulfill all entitlements owed to Irawan and Naufal, including posthumous promotions, work accident insurance, personnel-on-board insurance, compensation for their families, and scholarships for their children.

“We will promote them because they died in the line of duty during a surveillance operation,” he said.

Herdiawan made the statement during a ceremony honoring and handing over the bodies of Irawan, Naufal, and the aircraft’s captain, Andi Dahananto. Meanwhile, Maulana was buried on January 22, and his family has received the benefits to which they are entitled.

The deputy minister also extended his respect and appreciation to the other victims: Muhammad Farhan Gunawan (first officer), Hariadi (flight crew), Dwi Murdiono (flight crew), Restu Adi Pribadi (flight crew), Esther Aprilita Binarsit Sianipar (flight attendant), and Florencia Lolita Wibisono (flight attendant).
