Jakarta (ANTARA) -

Indonesia’s National Police (Polri) will build 10 new food security warehouses in 2026 to boost storage capacity, speed up distribution, and strengthen national food resilience, Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said on Friday.

Speaking at the inauguration and groundbreaking of 1,179 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPGs) and 18 police warehouses in West Jakarta, Listyo said the police currently operate 18 food warehouses across 12 regional commands.

He said the additional facilities will be built across eight regional police units, bringing the nationwide total to 28 warehouses, each with a storage capacity of 1,000 tons.

The police are also constructing a large warehouse in the Jakarta metropolitan area with a capacity of 10,000 tons to further reinforce national food reserves and logistics readiness.

Listyo said the expanded network is expected to improve storage efficiency, accelerate distribution, stabilize food supplies, and support sustainable regional economic growth.

“In the future, the police will build food security warehouses in all regional commands,” he said, outlining a nationwide logistics expansion plan.

The police have also prepared 30 auxiliary warehouses, including 25 police-owned facilities, three local government assets, one election commission warehouse, and three community loan facilities, mainly in Papua, where state logistics infrastructure remains limited.

President Prabowo Subianto on Friday inaugurated 1,179 SPPG units and 18 police food security warehouses at the Palmerah SPPG facility in West Jakarta.

The event was attended by Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago, and Food and Drug Monitoring Agency head Taruna Ikrar.
