He noted that as of February 2026, the government had commenced physical development of nearly 20 thousand village cooperatives, with progress averaging 20 percent.
"We can expect to see 20,000 cooperatives fully established by May, given the current progress rate of 20 percent," Juliantono remarked at a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The minister underscored the importance of thorough, well-planned preparations for cooperatives to achieve optimal performance once they begin operation.
"Preparatory steps include arranging management systems, enhancing human resource capacity, and providing technical support to enable cooperatives to run businesses shortly after development completion," he explained.
Juliantono added that once the mid-year target is achieved, the government will continue construction until all 80,000 cooperatives are equipped with supporting facilities by the end of 2026, as mandated by President Prabowo Subianto.
The president symbolically launched more than 80,000 cooperatives nationwide under the KDMP program in July 2025, with 13 objectives, including empowering rural residents, generating jobs, making key commodities and services more accessible, alleviating extreme poverty, curbing inflation, and boosting the farmers’ exchange rate.
These goals reflect his ambition to build Indonesia from its villages toward equitable development across the country. This determination is part of his eight primary missions—collectively called the Asta Cita—which aim to bring Indonesia into a golden era by its centenary in 2045.
In October 2025, the government brokered a pact between state food company PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara and the military, mobilizing them to develop seven mandatory facilities for cooperatives: management offices, grocery outlets, savings and loan counters, clinics, pharmacies, cold storage, and logistical facilities.
Each cooperative will have access to up to Rp3 billion (over US$177,000) in loans, with Rp2.5 billion allocated for capital expenditure and the remainder for operational costs.
