Priandi Satria, CEO of the Mandalika Grand Prix Association, said the event will boost both local and national economies while providing regional exposure for Indonesian racing teams.
“The race opens wider opportunities for Indonesian teams to compete at international standards. Consistently hosting world-class events strengthens the foundation of the national automotive and motorsport industry,” he said.
The event reflects Indonesia’s commitment to building a world-class sport tourism ecosystem, reinforcing the Mandalika Lombok’s reputation as a premier international racing destination in Asia.
According to SRO Motorsports Asia’s provisional 2026 calendar, the Mandalika round is the second of the season, following the opening race at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
“The event features two one-hour races, delivering close competition among manufacturers as well as professional and Pro-Am teams,” Satria said.
Hosting the Mandalika round early in the season offers strategic value, serving as a prelude to mid-season competition while representing Southeast Asia in the prestigious international GT3 calendar.
“As a host, Mandalika Circuit is known for its technical layout, fast corners, and challenging sectors. Overlooking the Indian Ocean and Lombok’s green hills, it offers a unique racing experience for teams, drivers, and fans,” he added.
The GT World Challenge Asia is among the most competitive GT3 series, featuring top manufacturer cars including Mercedes-AMG, Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Audi, BMW, Chevrolet, and Nissan.
“Each race weekend combines high-speed performance, pit stop strategy, tire management, and teamwork between two drivers sharing a car,” Satria said.
