She said the world is witnessing a geopolitical conflict involving the use of military force. The tension reflects international relations shaped by strategic interests, regional security dominance, and competition among global powers.
“The conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran not only reflects clashes of interests at the regional level, but also illustrates major challenges for global governance in the future,” she said at the parliamentary complex here on Tuesday.
According to her, the rising escalation of military actions has led to a collective understanding that the current use of force has disregarded the principle of respect for state sovereignty.
She also said the escalating conflict shows the dominance of certain countries over others, ignores the role of multilateral institutions in preventing wider conflict, and reflects the failure of the global security system to ensure balance among nations.
The situation, she added, reaffirms the importance of strengthening international law and the role of global institutions in maintaining peace, justice, world stability, and the right of states to defend their sovereignty.
At the same time, the Indonesian Parliament urged the United Nations to take a role by acting promptly to ensure respect for international law, the protection of civilians, as well as global peace and stability.
“DPR also emphasizes that the Indonesian government must continue to implement its free and active foreign policy in safeguarding national interests in a prudent, consistent, and constructive manner in responding to evolving global geopolitical dynamics,” she said.
