During a disciplinary roll call in Jakarta on Thursday morning, he revealed that more than 2,600 ministry personnel across Indonesia were absent without explanation on Wednesday (March 25), the first workday after Eid.
Of that number, 156 individuals serve at ministry headquarters, regional offices, or service centers, while about 2,500 are field workers under the Family Hope Program (PKH).
"It saddens me to learn that the undisciplined PKH personnel were only recently inaugurated and have not served as government employees for one year," Yusuf stressed.
The minister highlighted that he issued stern warnings against 500 PKH personnel over indiscipline in 2025, with 49 facing dismissal. He added that three more personnel were discharged this year for similar reasons.
"Going forward, we will not hesitate to discharge honorary employees and civil servants who are problematic and undisciplined," he said, stressing that deviation among personnel could stain the image and performance of the Social Affairs Ministry as a whole.
Yusuf underlined that unexcused absence constitutes a violation of Government Regulation No. 94 of 2024 regarding civil servant discipline. He added that the ministry would impose varied disciplinary sanctions according to the severity of violations.
"Minor violations could warrant sanctions in the form of verbal and written reprimands or statements on dissatisfaction from superiors," he said.
He added that beyond administrative penalties, violators may also face financial consequences, including cuts to performance allowances. A 2023 ministerial regulation stipulates a three percent deduction per day for failing to record attendance.
"Keep in mind that we are being monitored by the state and the public," Yusuf told ministry employees, urging them to serve the nation to the best extent.
