Jakarta (ANTARA) - Ambassador of Georgia to Indonesia Tornike Nozadze said that Georgia plays a key role in facilitating reliable and diverse routes, thus contributing to global energy security.

"Georgia plays a key role in facilitating reliable and diversified routes, contributing to global energy security," the ambassador said during a special interview with ANTARA News Agency, here on Tuesday (4/28).

Amid global turmoil that is hampering global energy supplies, Georgia offers an alternative route to strengthen regional connectivity and stability through the South Caucasus, which is increasingly recognized as a vital corridor for energy and transport connectivity between Europe and Asia.

"We are committed to strengthening infrastructure, promoting regional cooperation, and ensuring stability along these corridors," he said.

In today’s evolving global landscape, Georgia also prioritizes partnerships that are based on mutual respect, shared interests, and a commitment to international norms.

While Euro-Atlantic integration remains central for Georgia, they are equally open to expanding cooperation with partners across Asia, the Middle East, and beyond — including dynamic countries such as Indonesia.

Georgia has and will continue to offer diversification, one of which is through its oil and gas pipelines through the Caspian Basin, which flows towards Europe.

"So, if we are talking about energy, hydrocarbons in particular, Georgia is offering a very good alternative to Europe and the rest of the world, in existing situations," the ambassador said.

Georgia, he said, will become an even more key country in terms of transporting hydrocarbons and other energy forms throughout the world, together with its neighbors Azerbaijan and Armenia.

As evidence, he pointed to a joint EU-Georgian project, which will lay the high voltage cable on the Black Sea Basin, going through Georgia to the rest of the world, offering clean energy and clean electricity to their partners and neighbors.
