"We will maintain more intensive communication, particularly regarding the government’s targets for Indonesian sporting achievements," Hidayat told reporters after opening the 2026 KONI National Working Meeting and Extraordinary National Sports Conference, here on Thursday.
Hidayat said KONI is crucial in developing athletes and the national sports ecosystem.
He said his ministry and KONI are working together at the central, provincial, and district/city levels to produce talented athletes.
Meanwhile, KONI Chairman Marciano Norman emphasized his commitment to continue developing athletes.
Norman stated that there should be no gap in communication between the Ministry of Sports, KONI, and KOI.
"Because our mission is to unite the nation through sports. When it comes to sports, we focus on the Red and White (national team). Therefore, we must put aside our differences," he said.
KONI is still holding the National Working Meeting and Extraordinary National Sports Conference to discuss improvements to the Articles of Association and Bylaws, as well as realigning KONI’s sports agenda at various levels and sports branches.
