KNKT Chairman Soerjanto Tjahjono said the Argo Bromo Anggrek train's driver braked his machine after receiving information about an impact of other commuter line train ahead.
"I mentioned earlier that from a distance of 1,300 meters, after receiving the news that there was a collision ahead, the driver of Argo Bromo Anggrek train had already applied the brakes," Tjahjono said after attending a working meeting with Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representative (DPR RI) here on Thursday (May 21).
In addition to reducing speed, he added, the driver was also asked to increase the use of the "35" signal or sound the horn as a warning to raise awareness of potential dangers on the railway track.

The KNKT then stated the driver of Argo Bromo Anggrek train responded to instructions from the operations control center in Manggarai by taking action based on the information received before the accident.
However, according to the KNKT, it was premature to identify the main cause of the accident, with technical and operational aspects still being examined.
The investigation team is currently collecting, verifying, and processing various supporting data to obtain a comprehensive picture of the sequence of events leading up to the accident.
