Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung (ANTARA News) - The Bangka Belitung Drug and Food Supervisory Agency (BPOM) had warned the public not to consume the illegal Red Bull Kratingdaeng canned drink as it may harm their health.

"Banned Krantingdeang canned drinks are still on the shelves of many stores and small shops," head of BPOM`s Bangka Belitung investigation, certification and consumers information service Iswandi S. Farm said here Tuesday.

He said the service conducted routine control and examination of food and drinks at many stores and destroyed them if found to be illegal because their contents are harmful to human health and violated the regulation of the Minister of Health.

"Kratingdaeng canned drinks had already been banned in the past few years and thousands of the drinks imported from Thailand had been destroyed, but many of them were still found on the shelves of many stores and ships. The commodity entered the country by way of several ports which were very difficult to control," he said.

BPOM and the relevant authorities will take very firm action against the traders still selling the products.

"Besides Kratingdaeng, other illegal canned 140 ml drinks Bear Brand had also been banned," he said.

He hoped for the cooperation of the ports and relevant government institutions to prevent the entry of the illegal drinks into the country.

"The illegal imported drinks entered major ports in Bangka Belitung and the ports were also expected to anticipate, reject and and seize the illegal drinks," he said. (*)
