Bondowoso, E Java (ANTARA News) - Whirlwind damaged 546 houses in Pakem Sub-district, Bondowoso District, East Java.

Head of Bondowoso Disaster Management Office (BPBD) Abdurrahman said the whirlwind hit four villages in Pakem Sub-district, namely Kupang, Andongsari, Gadingsari, and Petung villages.

"The whirlwind hit four villages in Pakem Sub-district on Wednesday evening and damaged hundreds of houses there," Abdurrahman told ANTARA.

BPBD recorded 546 houses were damaged; 92 were heavily, 263 were moderately, and 191 were lightly.

"We are still gathering data on the field, so there might be additional data of damaged houses caused by the whirlwind," he said.

There were no casualties in the whirlwind in Pakem Sub-district. "Only three people were lightly injured in toppled houses, but they have been taken care at a local Public Health Center," he said.

The whirlwind also toppled some trees in the villages but already removed by officers are the cleaning service.

The BPBD of Bondowoso has distributed food supplies to the whirlwind victims in the four villages since Wednesday evening.

"Today we have distributed 2.5 tons of rice to the victims," Abdurrahman said.
