"Until Thursday morning, a total of 97 Indonesians have been evacuated. They are reported to be in good conditions," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Michael Tene said here on Thursday.
He said that the Indonesian Consulate General in Sydney continued to monitor the fate of evacuated Indonesian citizens, particularly with regard to their food supply and their health.
Besides having coordination and monitoring the condition of the Indonesian citizens, the consulate general also opened a telephone hot-line +61416208869 for Indonesians in Indonesia who wanted to get information about their family members/relatives or vice versa.
Earlier, the Indonesian government has provided aid funds amounting to US$1 million for the Australian government to help overcome the floods in Queensland.
The assistance, which was provided based on the instruction of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, was handed over directly by Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa through a telephone conversation to Australian Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd.
The Indonesian assistance which was provided for the Australian government was channeled through the Queensland Premiere`s Disaster Relief Appeal Fund formed by the Queensland government to help mitigate the suffering of the victims.
