Tunis (ANTARA News/AFP) - Seventy-eight people have been killed in Tunisia during a month of turmoil, Interior Minister Ahmed Friaa said on Monday, almost quadrupling the official death toll.

The last official figure of 21 people killed was given by the government on January 11 -- before the ouster of disgraced president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

The Paris-based International Federation for Human Rights said on January 13 that 66 people had been killed. (*)
