Kendari, SE Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - A Chinese investor by way of its company PT Jillin Horoc planned to build a ferro-nickel plant in en Konawe Utara regency, Southeast Sulawesi.

The plan of the biggest Chinese investor to build a ferro-nickel plant was revealed by Southeast Sulawesi Governor H. Nur Alam to the press here Tuesday.

"In exploiting nickel in the area the giant Chinese company teamed up with PT Billy International which was first to run a nickel mine in Buton regency," he said.

As a token of seriousness of PT Jillin Horoc,it had given a guarantee to the Southeast Sulawesi administration in the form of US 100 million US dollars, which would be handed to the company`s management in March 2011, he said.

Nur Alam said the Chinese company will invest Rp 1.8 trillion in the province, which will be raised regularly to eventually reach a total of Rp3 trillion.

Besides the Chinese company, there are 16 other companies willing to invest in the nickel mine sector in the province.
