"The embassy will pick up students who are living outside Cairo for the third evacuation round of efforts," said the embassy`s evacuation team leader Sea Colonel R. Isgunanto here, Saturday.
The third aircraft is scheduled to fly from Cairo Airport and will be arriving at Jakarta, Indonesia on Sunday (6/2) evening local time.
Isgunanto said the embassy will pick up students from provinces such as Zakazik (83km north of Cairo) and Tafaha (60Km north of Cairo) using embassy`s vehicles to make them able to join the third flight group.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Association of Indonesian School and University Students (PPMI) in Egypt Falahuddin Nursalim said that the students outside Cairo had difficulties reaching the capital city due to road blocks.
Nevertheless, a number of students made it to Cairo and has participated in the previous batch, said Falahuddin,
Besides Cairo, some Indonesian students have also been placed by the Al Azhar University to study in its branches in several regions such as Alexandria (221 north of Cairo), Mansurah (126 km from Cairo), Tanta (92 km from Cairo), and Damanhur (156 km from Cairo).
Athan Tegun said there were 42 students from Alexandria who fled that country in the second evacuation group on Thursday.
The Embassy`s Head of Information, Social and Cultural office Iwan Wijaya Mulyatno said that all Indonesians in Egypt are safe and secure.
Until Saturday afternoon in Cairo times, the number of citizens who registered for the next evacuation has reached 781 people, despite the fact that the maximum capacity of Garuda Indonesia aircraft Boeing 747 that would take them is only for 404 people including 23 toddlers.
The fourth group of evacuees is soon to be determined after an evaluation by the Indonesian citizen evacuation team is completed, Iwan said. (*)
