Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia has begun targeting world`s bonsai lover tourists by among others holding an international Bonsai and Suiseki exhibition 2011, a bonsai lovers association chairman said.

"Culture and Tourism Minister Jero Wacik is expected to open the international Bonsai and Suiseki Indonesia Exhibition 2011, which would be held from March 5 to 13," Budi Sulistyo, chairman of the Indonesian Bonsai Lovers Association (PPBI) said here on Wednesday.

He said that not many who knew that Indonesia was the world`s most potential bonsai and suiseki paradise, which could attract world tourists to Indonesia.

Sulistyo said that there were millions of bonsai lovers in the world who have the potentials to be attracted as a tourism segment in Indonesia.

He said that the exhibition was expected to attract more than 2,000 visitors both from the public and from the bonsai and suiseki lovers.

The exhibition which will be held at the parking area of the Platinum Gandaria City, Jakarta, will be attended by bonsai lovers from Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan and the Philippines.

The event will display 500 bonsai and 200 suiseki exclusive collections from various parts of Indonesia.

Sulistyo said that the exhibition would serve as a trend setter for the bonsai and suiseki world so that it would become one of the country`s attractive events which invite international tourists to Indonesia.
