"Bapak (Mr) Anas came to Denpasar to tell that a flight link between Denpasar and Banyuwangi will be opened. Only the fares are still very high, a return ticket will cost Rp600 thousand, it is cheaper to Jakarta," he said when addressing an evening of cultural appreciation observing the 19th anniversary of Denpasar also attended by Banyuwangi Regent Abdullah Azwar Anas Sunday night.
Speaking before thousands of guests at the Denpasar Cultural Center, he said there will be three flights a week from Blimbingsari airport in Banyuwangi to Ngurah Rai airport in Bali, namely on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, only once each day.
On Mondays and Wednesdays the flights from Denpasar to Banyuwangi will leave at 11.05 am, and on Fridays at 9.05 am.
From Banyuwangi to Denpasar on Monday and Wednesday the flights start at 19 am, and on Fridays at 8 am.
In the Denpasar-Banyuwangi flights for the first five buyers the fare is Rp300,000, and then the normal fare of Rp400,000 will apply.
In the meantime the Banyuwangi-Surabaya fare for the first five buyers will be Rp500,000 and then the normal fare of Rp700,000 will apply.
After that, by the end of December 2010 a flight between Blimbingsari and Juanda in Surabaya had been inaugurated by East Java deputy mayor Saifullah Yusuf.
