"Because of something that came up, the president could not attend this event," the event`s host announced.
A number of ministers including Coordinating Minister for People`s Welfare Agung Laksono, Agriculture Minister Suswono, Forestry Minister Zulkifli Hasan, and Culture and Tourism Minister Jero Wacik were present on the occasion.
Julian Aldrin Pasha, a presidential spokesman, in response to press questions on the phone said he had no idea why the president failed come to the event.
The head of state was busy doing internal activities at Cikeas, Bogor, he said.
When asked whether the president would call several politicians to Cikeas, he responded, "It`s not my authority (to answer that)."
