The 216 people consisted among others of 93 students, seven relatives of Indonesian diplomats at the embassy in Tripoli, and formal and non-formal Indonesian migrant workers, Moh Jumhur Hidayat, said here Wednesday.
According to data from the Indonesian foreign ministry, there were 870 Indonesians in Libya, and 104 of them were migrant workers, mostly housemaids.
Earlier, 78 informal migrant workers, 201 employees of state construction company PT Wijaya Karya (Wika) and 41 construction workers of PT Mardel Mitra Global, had been evacuated from Libya to Jakarta.
Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Michael Tene said here on Monday (March 7) that 61 Indonesians were currently still in conflict-torn Libya,
"According to our official list, there are 61 Indonesians still in Libya. They consist of Indonesian Embassy staff in Tripoli, some students and migrant workers," said Tene.
He said the special task force for evacuation was still preparing all things necessary for the next evacuation effort.
Tene said, up till now a total of 809 Indonesians had been evacuated from Libya. Of this number, 489 people had left the country by air, 34 by crossing the border , 92 had left the country at their own expense and the remaining 194 had left the country before the crisis happened.
He said the Indonesian Embassy staff in Tripoli were still trying to reach out to other Indonesians living outside Tripoli for evacuation.
Last February 26, some 253 Indonesians making up the first batch of evacuees coordinated by the Indonesian foreign affairs ministry, arrived at Carthage International Airport in Tunis, Tunisia, aboard a chartered Tunisair.
The evacuees were greeted by Indonesian Ambassador to Tunisia Muhammad Ibnu Said and the foreign ministry`s Diplomatic Security Affairs Director Samsu Rizal.
Although part of the evacuees lacked complete travel documents or visa, they were all allowed to enter Tunis without any difficulty.
