Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Head of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Dr.Jane Lubchenco would visit Indonesia in April for talks about the two countries`s cooperation, a senior legislator said here Sunday.

"Dr.Jane Lubchenco who is also the US deputy trade minister will visit Indonesia and meet with the House of Representatives` (DPR) Commission IV on industry, trade and state enterprises," Head of the House`s Commission IV Airlangga Hartarto said.

She would very much likely meet members of the House`s Commission IV on April 4, 2011 for talks about the ways to strengthen cooperation on educational sector, he said.

The US government believed that the the strengthening cooperation on education was a strategic point in the US trade mission in Indonesia, Airlangga Hartarto said.

"The Commission IV (members) will receive Dr.Jane Lubchenco`s visit on April 4, 2011. May the schedule be unchanged," he said.

Asked whether her visit was part of the US lobby to the House`s Commission IV in the superpower`s effort to hamper the floods of Chinese products into Indonesian market, Airlangga refused that.

"That matter is not in our agenda. What has been clear is that her visit is focused on the educational aspect," he said.

About a possibility that the US government would provide Indonesian students with more scholarship schemes, he said the scholarship schemes were not only given by the US government.

Those scholarships were also provided by a number of non-governmental and international organizations, he said.

Head of NOAA Dr.Jane Lubchenco had ever visited Indonesia last year.

At that time, along with a number of students of Jakarta-based London School of Public Relations, she planted trees in Pantai Indah Kapuk neighborhood, North Jakarta, on January 5, 2010.

The USA is one of Indonesia`s prime trade partners and important investors. (*)
