Tokyo (ANTARA News/Kyodo-OANA) - Tokyo Electric Power Co. resumed its rolling blackouts Tuesday after a three-day suspension during Japan`s long weekend as demand for electricity is expected to exceed its quake-affected supply capacity with the start of the business day.

The day`s outages from around 9:20 a.m. are planned to continue until 10 p.m. and affect some 10 million houses in four of the five designated zoning groups, after one of the groups was spared from 6:20 a.m. as supply was still sufficient, the utility said.

TEPCO said later in the morning that no further disruptions of three hours and 40 minutes each will be added to the day`s plan.

The firm predicts 37 million kilowatts of demand at peak hour against its capacity of 35.5 million kilowatts for the day.(*)
