Among the projects built in the past five years using the state budget were Belang-Belang seaport, Tampadang airport, 544-kilometer long road, gubernatorial office and provincial legislative assembly building, West Sulawesi Governor Anwar Adnan Saleh said on Sunday.
The construction of the seaport with a 160-m long pier cost Rp96 billion, he said.
He said the construction of the airport was expected to cost Rp136 billion consisting of Rp57 billion taken from the 2010 state budget and Rp79 billion from the 2011 state budget. The airport had a 2,500-meter long runway to enable such wide-bodied plane as Boeing 7400 to land.
Only 20 percent of the 544-kilometer long road was now in bad condition compared to 80 percent previously. The road betterment project cost Rp120 billion taken from the state budget, he said.
Overall, the West Sulawesi provincial government needed Rp1.8 trillion to improve all roads in the province, he said.
He said the President`s visit to West Sulawesi would coincide with the launch of tourism program, known as Kemilau. Initiated by the central government in 2006 the program was aimed at promoting West Sulawesi`s tourism sector to domestic and foreign tourists. (*)
