After holding a limited cabinet meeting on optimal and efficient use of budget at the Presidential Office here on Thursday, the president told a press conference that he was still receiving reports on inefficient and unoptimized use of budget by state officials both at the central and regional levels of government.
"Sometime ago in a discussion during a cabinet meeting and a working meeting attended by governors and other government officials, we still found that budget was still used inefficiently, not optimally and inappropriately. This should not be let take place continuously," President Yudhoyono said.
He said that in his capacity as the power holder for the management of state budget and finance, the president asked all sides, especially government ranks and files to exercise efficient use of budget, particularly administration budget, including procurement of official cars, official trips and construction of official buildings and houses.
"The government has issued instruction no. 7 / 2011 which I signed on March 15, 2011 which basically contains follow up steps of a series of discussions on the state budget," he said.
