Jakarta (ANTARA News) - ASEAN will discuss again the issue of ASEAN roaming to reduce telephone tariff among member countries, Indonesian minister of communications and information Tifatul Sembiring said.

"The ASEAN roaming issue has ever been discussed by communications ministers of ASEAN in Kuala Lumpur some time ago and it will be discussed again at the ASEAN Summit later," he said here on Wednesday.

He said the ASEAN roaming could become one of the realizations of cooperation among ASEAN member countries in the field of communications and information.

"Cooperation like that has been started with a free visa service for traveling in ASEAN member countries," he said.

He said the population of ASEAN countries now reached 500 millions which was potential in terms of economy.

Besides roaming ASEAN would also discuss single currency and security cooperation in the meetings.

"The security cooperation is important with regard to eradicating trans-national crimes," he said.

The minister had especially asked the people to support the implementation of the ASEAN Summit.

He said the event would have a big impact on the economy especially with regard to increasing hotel occupancy, visitors to restaurants and recreation centers.

"So be a good host," he said.
