Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was located about 165 km southwest of Manado, around 10 kilometers deep.
The tremor happened at 0.01 degrees north latitude and 124.59 degrees east longitude, the agency said.
"I think I was getting dizzy because of the hot sun. But, then it was vibration like an earthquake," said Royke, a local resident.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, a 5.0 magnitude undersea earthquake also hit Tual but there was no immediate report of casualties or material damage.
The quake was not strong enough to trigger a tsunami, the report said.
