Jakarta (ANTARA News) - ASEAN leaders start arriving in Jakarta on Friday for the 18th ASEAN Summit on May 7 and 8.

They are arriving in Jakarta by way of the Soekarno Hatta international and Halim Perdanakusuma airports.

Security precautions at the airports have been stepped up, particularly in the area of the VVIP room.

Cambodian Head of State Hun Sen arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma at 10.55 am, and Laotian Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong will be arriving at 11.35 am at Soekarno Hatta, while six other heads of state and representatives of other countries will be arriving later today and in the evening.

Singapore Senior Minister S Jayakumar representing Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is arriving at Soekarno Hatta at 4.05 pm today, Wing I Commander Colonel Tribow said.

Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva was slated to arrive at the same place at 9.55 pm, he said.

In the meantime, four other high officials namely Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, Sultan Hassanah Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam, Malaysian Prime Minister Dato` Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak, and the Philippines President are slated to arrive at Halim Perdanakusuma.
