"The names of the two dead men are Sigit Qurdowi, leader of a Hisbah Team of Tauhid Al Jihad, and his body guard, Hendro," Inspector General Anton Bachrul Alam, spokesman of the National Police Headquarters , said here Saturday.
Sigit had trained members of terrorist groups in Cirebon and Central Java on how to assemble bombs, he said.
From them, the police had seized two FN revolvers, one Beretta, one active grenade, and 100 rounds of FN ammunition," Anton said.
In Sigit`s house, the police found around 7,600 sharpened bolts, he added.
"Some of the sharpened bolts were wrapped in rubber, probably to serve as catapult ammunition or the content of home-made bombs," the police spokesman said.
The terror suspects were stopped when riding a motorbike. Sigit Qurdowi who was sitting in the back, tried shot at Densus members who returned the fire, said Anton.
One of the bullets fired by Sigit Qurdowi hit a street vendor identified as Nur Iman.
"Nur Iman and the two terror suspects died at the scene of the sootout ," he said.
Sigit and Hendro were suspected of being involved in bombing attacks on a church and a police office in Kliwon Market in Solo in December 2010. They were also involved in a terrorist network in Cirebon and linked to four other terror suspects who were recently arrested in Solo.
The four suspects, identified as Edi T alias Edi Jablay, Ari Budi alias Abas alias Irwan, Hari Budiarto alias Nobita, and Aripin Haryono, were nabbed on Friday (May 13) and Thursday (May 10) in Solo.
