"The Rp55 billion value constitutes a share the Jambi province should receive based on Law No. 33 / 2004," Head of Jambi`s Energy and Mineral Resource Service Iramansyah Rahman said here on Tuesday.
He said that based on the regulation on the exploitation of coal, Jambi would get 80 percent of the proceeds while the central government 20 percent.
Irmansyah said that based on the percentage, Jambi only got Rp55 billion of the whole coal revenues in 2010. Of the total, the provincial government got Rp11 billion, producer regions Rp22 billion, and 10 districts Rp3.2 billion each.
He said that the total coal production of Jambi in 2010 stood at 3.75 million tons which were produced by about 27 companies.
The 27 firms have been commercially operational, while some 347 others are conducting explorations, of which 80 percent have obtained operation licenses.
He said that the 27 coal firms which have already been operating commercially were located in several districts such as Sarolangun, Tebo, Batanghari, Muaro Jambi and Tanjabbarat.(*)
