Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The deputy secretary general of the ruling Democrat Party, Ramadhan Pohan, suspected that an old politician was trying to damage the party.

"There is a politician from outside who wishes to shake the Democrat Party by infiltrating through Democrat Party cadres," he said here on Tuesday.

He expressed concern over the move and considered it too much. "We regret it because that is not honorable and they have competed unfairly through slander and infiltrations," he said.

Their efforts, he said, were aimed at dividing and weakening the party. He declined to tell the name of the politician but said he believed party leaders already know about it.

Regarding actions to be taken to the Democrat Party cadre that have been used for infiltrations Ramadhan said that a dialogue had been done with him and advice had also been given to him.

The person concerned, he said, has understood. "What is important is that it will never happen again," he said.

Ramadhan said his party would never use methods like that against its rivals because it is not fair. "The Democrat Party will use methods which are wise, smart, clean and healthy. It will not interfere other parties," he said.

Ramadhan also said that efforts had also been taken to attack the Democrat Party and President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono who is the party`s chief patron.

He said attacks had been launched on SBY as the president is often called which were actually eventually aimed at the party.

He said the short text message that had slandered President Yudhoyono and the Democrat Party was part of the efforts aimed at shaking the positions of Yudhoyono and Democrat Party.

In view of that he called on the police to immediately investigate the case. The police have to act although none has complained to them as it has hurt a state symbol, he said.
