Calling for the dissolution of the 120-member lower house, the demonstrators also accused the government of not seeking serious reforms in the country.
In downtown Amman, hundreds of Jordanians marched in the streets from Al Husseini Mosque to the Greater Amman Municipality after Friday prayer, urging the government to step down and demanding effective efforts in uprooting corruption.
"This government is corrupt and it should leave. This government is not serious about reform efforts at all," chanted the demonstrators in downtown Amman.
Similar demonstrations were organized in Irbid, Theban, Tafila, and Karak, where hundreds took part in demonstrations, slamming the government for delaying the reform process and uprooting corruption. They also accused the government of not seeking to making change.
Also Friday, hundreds took part in a demonstration in front of the State Security Court (SSC) in Amman, calling for the closure of the SSC. They also demanded stooping interference by security bodies in the lives of citizens.
Over the past few months, opposition groups, activists, trade unionists, political party members and representatives of youth groups held successive demonstrations in different parts of the country, demanding the sacking of the government.
Demonstrators also slammed the lower house for its "weak" performance. They want "swift" efforts to uproot corruption, proceed with the reform process at both political and economic levels and address poverty and unemployment. (*)
