The meeting would focus on preparations for the extraordinary congress of the Indonesian Football Association ({PSSI) scheduled for July 9 in Solo, Central Java, KONI spokesman Yongki said here on Monday.
Earlier, the government said it would convince FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) that the congress would run successfully.
FIFA had recently decided to form a Normalization Committee that would take over the task of organizing a congress from the PSSI`s executive board to elect a new PSSI chairman, deputy chairman and executive committee on May 20, 2011.
FIFA took the decision after its Emergency Committee believed that the PSSI leadership under chairman Nurdin Khalid was not in control of football in Indonesia as proven by its failure to control the run-away league (Liga Premiere/LPI) set up without the involvement of PSSI or by the fact it could not organize a peaceful congress whose sole goals were to adopt an electoral code and elect an electoral commission.
When accompanying President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono during a working visit in Nusa Dua, Bali, recently, Mallarangeng said he would ask assistance from FIFA Vice President for Asia Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein to prevent FIFA from imposing a sanction on Indonesia.
"First of all I should like to express my gratitude to him (Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein) who has so far helped us avoid FIFA sanction. I think it is not necessary for PSSI to receive sanction and we want to be successful," Malarang said.
Prince Ali bin Al Hussein arrived here on Monday for a two-day visit. He had originally planned to pay a courtesy call on President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
However, because President Yudhoyono left for Geneva on Monday to attend a general assembly of the International Labor Union (ILO), Minister Mallarangeng will represent him in receiving Prince Ali.
During his stay, Prince Ali will also meet with Vice President Boediono. (*)
